Hi, I’m Hannah!
I have over 15 years experience in animal training. Originally a Veterinary Technician, the more I worked in the field, the more I gravitated towards behavior and training. I have hands on experience with creatures big, small, feathered, furry and scaled, including: foxes and wolves, big and exotic cats, primates, parrots and corvids, elephants, farm animals, rodents and fish. (yes…fish can be trained).
I have been providing practical and effective cat training and behavior modification services to Greater Los Angeles for 15 years. I do not subscribe to shticks, dogmatic methods, or ideologies often encountered in the realm of pet training. I recommend people “work with the animal in front of them.” Every cat is an individual, so each situation is approached individually.
My 3-Step Approach:
1) Interrupt and Prevent:
You will learn things to begin doing NOW to prevent your cat/s from “practicing” unwanted or maladaptive behaviors. This allows your cat’s brain to more easily learn new, healthier behaviors!
2) De-stress and Decompress:
I’ll give you easy, tangible things to begin implementing on a daily basis to reduce stress, frustration and anxiety in your cat/s…and you
3) Create new behavior:
This is where your cat learns new, long-term associations and behaviors to replace the previous/unwanted ones. We will cover realistic goals during your consultation, and I will support and guide you through daily implementation via your follow up support included with EACH session
I am a big fan of Classical Conditioning, using all four quadrants ofOperant Conditioning (with a big focus on positive reinforcement!) and like to emphasize and help implement good prevention and management systems.
I’m passionate about helping people understand and communicate with their cats better.
My favorite topic is teaching people how to play with their cats better to satisfy their hunting instincts, and using play to prevent problems
My super power is getting “cats who don’t play” to play.
You will hear me mention the word play a hundred times during our consultation together…because I can’t overemphasize how important it is to any good behavior plan.
I want to meet every single cat who’s ever existed, and I can’t wait to meet yours.
